Hello! And welcome to my hair blog, the HairNinja! The HairNinja is currently in retirement, but hopes that you will still take a look around. (Who knows, she may come out of retirement at some point!) Keep scrolling to see past hairstyles. Click the first (orange) button in the top right to find my about me page, contact form, as well as the index of all styles and fun posts. Click the second (brown) button to find my social links, subscribe buttons, and other widgets. You can also find me on my book blog, The NerdHerd Reads, where I am most active, as well as my other blog, Life, Laughs, and…Coffee. Thanks for stopping by!
Every chapter in life comes to an end.
And I’m afraid that it has just come to the moment for this blog to end as well.
When I started this blog a year ago, I had no idea how it would go, if I would keep up with it, if anyone would actually read it, etc. So I just want to thank each of you for coming on this journey with me.
Somewhere along the way, though, I lost my passion for doing hair. I lost inspiration, had no time, and keeping up with the blog seemed like more and more of a chore. That’s not what blogging is about. As you guys already know, I’ve only had a handful of posts since this school year started. Although I had so much fun when I started, there’s a season for everything.
As I go off to college, I’ll no longer see my models. I also want to spend more time on my book blog, the NerdHerdReads. That’s where my current passion lies. Although the Disney pics every week were also fun, they’re not what the blog is about, and take up too much time I don’t have.
That said, I’m not going to delete the blog. I’m going to leave it just as it is for anyone who wants to read past posts, and in the event that my passion comes back and I start it up again. Thank you guys for putting up with me. It’s been a great year, and although I’ll miss it, it’s just what has to be done.
I kind of want to start a personal blog. Would anyone be interested/follow me if I did? I started a new blog, Life, Laughs, and…Coffee. Would love it if you would check it out!
One of the braids I used to do most often in the beginning was the Prim braid on Nicole. This was before I started taking pics, and before this blog started.
Today, Nicole had our lunch, because of testing, so I took this opportunity to do the Prim braid again (for what may be the last time ever D: )
The Prim braid is super simple. Just two French braids on either side of the head, that sort of curve around the ear and then come down. Super easy, and super cute. I do think of this as more of a younger hairstyle, which is why I’ve only done it on Nicole. She’s the “baby” of our group, and the only one who could pull it off.
So if you’ve been following this blog for a while, you know that the whole thing started with Katniss’ braid from the Hunger Games movie. So I am extra excited to be showing you Prim’s braid from the Catching Fire trailer today!! Who else can’t wait for the movie to come out??
So this is the back, and most of the hairstyle.
It’s pretty much like the Katniss braid, but with hair left over and a little bit more braid at the top. (Closeup farther down)
Here are both the side views. As you can see, it’s a bit messy, and I didn’t get the angle quite right. But the main point is still there.
And here is a closeup of the top part.
It is different from the Katniss braid in that the top part is a lace Dutch braid, then you go to a full Dutch braid (with adding hair on both sides), and then back to a lace Dutch braid.
And thanks to CuteGirlHairstyles for the tutorial!
And just for fun, the Catching Fire teaser trailer, haha
What? A hair post? No way!!
It may be at the last possible second, and I may have had to do it on myself, but at least it’s done! I have kept Week 1 of my April resolutions. Hopefully I can keep it up the rest of the month…
Today’s style is super easy, but still enough to spice up a boring, overused look. I’m sorry the picture is crap, but it was hard to take it on myself and it was too late at night to ask someone else to take it.
So that’s all it is folks! A small braid into a side braid. I may have done something similar before, but I’m not sure.

Today’s style is a half fail. Half of this style actually turned out really well. The other half…not so much…at all.
So yeah. As you can see, the right side turned out great, the left side was terrible. Which is really sad because I really liked this hairstyle and think it would have looked really pretty had it actually turned out good.
Close up of the good side…
and close up of the bad side…
